Limerence: why you can't stop thinking about them

Limerence is an intense, often consuming longing for another person. You may think about them constantly, replay conversations, look for signs that they feel the same and feel your mood rise and fall with their attention.

It can happen inside or outside a relationship, and it is often accompanied by shame or confusion, especially if the feelings are for someone unavailable.

Limerence is not a sign that something is wrong with you. It often connects to deeper needs, such as wanting to feel seen, longing for excitement, or old experiences of love that felt uncertain.

In therapy we can make sense of what the limerence is telling you, without judgement. Understanding it can loosen its grip and help you make choices that feel right for you.

If you are struggling with limerence, you do not have to manage it alone.

I see clients on Harley Street in Central London (W1), in South Woodford, East London (E18), and online. You are very welcome to book a free 15-minute phone consultation to see whether working together feels right.
